In its 2024 NGO report the Limbörgse Academie argues that the Dutch government has failed to fulfill the Council of Europe’s recommendations for immediate action. It critiques the Dutch government’s refusal to fully implement the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages (ECRML) for Limburgish. The report highlights the need for a national strategy for Limburgish in education and the establishment of a national body to represent Limburgish speakers. The Dutch government’s position has led to inadequate support for Limburgish in education, culture, media, and administration.
